FX pistons feature the patented X Groove Skirt design, which reduces damage from fuel washdown and break-in debris, ensuring superior skirt, cylinder, and ring life.Thinner ring grooves maximize ring land width and reduce radial groove depth, drastically improving piston strength in the vulnerable ring land area. Advanced ring land features improve modern piston ring technology, including low-volume top land contact reduction grooves, a second land pressure accumulator groove, a third land oil accumulator, and a skirt top oil accumulator that works with the drain backs and X Groove.The stroker-friendly advanced skirt design enhances piston stability and increases ring seal while providing quieter operation. DSS F-style 4032 and 2618 alloy forgings with internal gusseting deliver superior strength without excessive weight. Additional CNC milling removes material from non-critical areas, achieving a lighter weight for the perfect balance of strength, power, and longevity.Additional features include forced pin oiling, drilled bottom land intersecting oil groove drain backs, a pin lock ring removal slot, precision-honed piston pin bores, diamond-turned high-strength skirts, and high-precision, high-strength piston pins. Deep CNC valve reliefs allow for more aggressive cam and cylinder head combinations, paving the way for significant power increases.Depending on the application, FX pistons are commonly used in V8 engines ranging from 450 to 1,500+ horsepower. Each kit includes DSS Racing FX Series pistons and DSS XP piston rings. The ring set features a gas-nitrided steel top ring, Napier second ring, and flex-vent oil rings.
